Praia do Tamariz
Surrounded by waterfront restaurants and watched over by a medieval-style castle, Praia do Tamariz has become one of the area's most popular beaches thanks to its proximity to Lisbon. Make your way along the expansive stretch of sand, grab an umbrella, and kick back while soaking up some rays or going for a dip in the shallow, calm coastal waters. You won't have trouble spotting the fortresslike residence owned by Monaco's royal family, which is built on the site of an older defensive structure. You can visit many bars and restaurants nearby. Keep in mind that parking is at a premium in the area. You might prefer to catch the train from Lisbon that runs frequently to the nearby town of Estoril. Enjoyed nice, quiet stroll down beach as tide was coming in almost every day. Surfers in huge waves & sea rescue training were interesting to watch. It's always relaxing to get off the streets...

The beach is directly at the railway station Estoril. You walk 100 m and then you are at a beautiful beach with fine sand, and clean but cold water. On the west end there are flat rocks and a nice view to Cascais, especially at sunset. On the east end of the beach you find a sea swimming pool for those who feel uncomfortable swimming in the open sea. Brave teenager dive into the pool, jumping from big blocks at the pool border. The beach is always populated, so it never gets boring to stay a few hours there. All the people are very relaxed and they just want to enjoy beach life by sitting, talking with friends. Children digging holes in the sand. Men play some ball games. Women show off the newest sexy swimwear by standing at the waves, with their legs in water. You won't see any nonsens watersport gadgets like banana boats, parachute sailing, or jet skis. Just people spending a day at the beach.

Beach is just next to train station. Sand is very fine and water is so clean. It has shower and toilet area which is free to use.
