Vieques National Wildlife Refuge provides a sanctuary for many rare and endangered animals, including brown pelicans, endemic Puerto Rican woodpeckers, and blue whales. While there, you can see pristine mangroves, fine white-sand beaches, and waters rich with many coral reefs and sea beads. Explore the exuberant ecosystem and join in one of numerous activities provided by the reserve--seasonal fishing and hunting, photography classes, biking, hiking, and more. The feeling of solitude appeals to those seeking a wild getaway for at least a day. So sad that this national Park is like a phantom park. It has gorgeous views, but you can barely drive inside this place. Too much vegetation on the road, that can damage your car. Caracas beach, and Sun Bay beach are two exceptional beaches with the promise of enchanted goddesses to allowing you enjoy every single moment there with mother nature. On the other hand there is a threat everywhere you go. I refer to the wild horses just around the whole island. Traveling at night time is very dangerous. Enjoy your visit to Vieques; the "daughter" of Puerto Rico.

Great beaches. We were in the Las Chivas beach area. Pull-offs are numbered 1-15. Lesser numbers have great sand and higher numbers are a bit more rocky but have shade.
