Create an itinerary including Casa Mila - La Pedrera
To see one of architect Antoni Gaudí’s most controversial designs, visit Casa Mila - La Pedrera, known for its undulating stone facade and the wrought-iron decorations on its balconies and windows. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1984, the building features some of the most innovative elements of its time, including underground parking. Perhaps the most remarkable element of the building is the roof, which features enormous chimneys designed to look like medieval knights. The architect’s elaborate plans for the roof included adding a huge statue of the Virgin, but when the businessman who commissioned the building said no, Gaudí resigned from the project. Today, the roof is frequently the site of music performances. Check online for an accurate schedule of special events and available tours. • This spectacular structure will leave you speechless. It wows both during the day and also at night. Truly a gem.

  • No right angles, all curvy. The engiineering and design to bring light into the building is very clever. The rooftop with all its chimney-like structures is like being in another world.

  • I did the guided night tour. The tour guide was excellent and it was fun to see the place with a different lighting. However, I think it would be better to let the travelers explore the roof on their own instead of having a light show that didn’t add much to the whole experience, since it was very simple. Overall very satisfied with the experience.
  • This apartment complex is definitely worth visiting. If you ever cared about Gaudi’s architecture or infrastructure in general you will enjoy the tour. I did the night experience and I highly recommend. Tour guide was knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. Must go even if you swing by it only. 🙏🏼
