At Torre Tavira, take in views of the city and the bay from the highest point in Cádiz. As you ascend the stairs to the terrace, view paintings and photos inspired by the city’s numerous watchtowers. In the first hall, learn the history and evolution of the camera obscura, located below the terrace. Don’t miss its projection room, where a special pinhole camera displays panoramic views of the city outside. In the second exhibition hall, informational panels describe Cádiz’s 18th- and 19th-century trading history with the Americas. Superb. It is imperative that you get the tour in your own language. The information given was extensive and entertaining. The guides English was excellent. I would recommend visiting here...

Writing this review from the top terrace, what a view! Well worth the visit, prebook for the obscurra tour. Very cool history, I learnt a lot, didn’t expect Cadiz to be such a hub of maritime early...

You need to reserve your tickets in advance as the numbers are limited but some people did turn up without doing so and were able to go inside. We went in earlier than our reserved time. The tower is very interesting with some good views on to but for me the most interesting thing was the Dark Room and the camera. The guide can be in English at certain times but mainly in Spanish showing you how the camera works and identify buildings and places of interest in the city. Entry was €7 each with the Dark Room tour. Better views can be seen from the Catedral tower.

a charming place to visit. there are regular guided tours and it is worth going on one as it's the only way to see the telescope in action and the "tour" of the city is interesting and fun with the history presented in a very light touch way. it is a bit of a walk up but it is worth it if you can manage it.
