Create an itinerary including Anfiteatro de Tarragona
The site of gladiator battles, wild animal hunts, and executions, Anfiteatro de Tarragona gives you a feel for the history of the Roman empire in Catalonia as of the second century CE. Once able to accommodate up to 15,000 spectators, this amphitheater was later home to a church and a prison. Consider the ticket allowing entrance to five different sites, including this one. If time is short, you can walk the perimeter for free. Put Anfiteatro de Tarragona and other Tarragona attractions into our Tarragona online tour itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Loved the history of this place. It is quite well preserved given the age. Looks more impressive from above than when you get inside it on the ground level. There's actually no point paying to get in....  more

  • Really cool Roman site, with a later church base built in the middle. It is a short walk down from the city center and can be visited with the city pass or just purchase a ticket when you get there. It is not a long tour your visit some inner rooms that shows the progress of the site over the years then head out to the middle. In the middle open space you can walk around to see the different layers in age from Roman all the way to present day. The site was built right on the bedrock and you can see it in places on the west side. It is a hot open space with no shade so dress with care if visiting in the middle of a sunny day and bring your own water as there is no where to get anything wile visiting the site.
  • This place could be a jewel to visit, if there would not be barriers everywhere to prevent you to go further. So better save the money and admire it from above. It is definitely more impressive.
