Create an itinerary including Gaomei Wetland
An elevated boardwalk snaking through a biodiverse landscape, Gaomei Wetland provides a protected sanctuary for wildlife and plant life. Established in 2005, the wetlands span 300 ha (741.3 ac) of land, consisting of a vast plain of marshy terrain scattered with wind turbines. Stroll the seemingly never-ending length of boardwalk, looking out for tiny crabs and birds in the surrounding watery reeds. Try to time your visit to coincide with sunset, which offers particularly spectacular views across the shimmering expanse. • A famous tourist attraction here! The wetland is the intertidal zone along the coast and is accessible by the passage above the sand to the shore. The passage is open during ebb, but submerges during flow. Hence, it is better to look up the tide period before going. Visitors are not allowed to walk outside the passage, or will be fined. The wetland is full of vigor and vitality as wide life dwells here. Massive fiddler crabs can be seen when they come out during ebb. The more distance away from the embankment, the more windy it is. Weed and crab diminish along the way to the beach end. The spot is especially beautiful in sunset, and is a terrific place for photos with vast background!
  • Gained wetland is one of the most precious and amazing places in Taiwan. It is well preserved, and there are buses to go there. You can easily ride a bike, or rent a motor bike to get around the area. It is very windy by the ocean, but you can see the windmill powering fans, which is also economically friendly. There are many cafes there, so enjoy your time there.
