Create an itinerary including Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street)
Stroll through mysterious Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) lined with rows of red lanterns hanging in front of quaint Chinese teahouses and inns. The narrow cobblestone street has changed little since the gold rush era of the town. Its traditional architecture, hilly surroundings, and misty weather evoke the atmosphere of the Academy-awarded anime "Spirited Away," attracting flocks of Japanese tourists and Ghibli fans. Eat your way through numerous food stalls packed with yummy traditional treats. Keep off the stairs at dusk when lanterns start to light up, or you will be trapped in the crowd of tourists trying to capture this scenic moment with cameras. • If you've seen ''spirited away'' this is probably what this place will remind you of (and part of the reason why it is so famous). The food offer is more diverse I'd have thought, with also the possibility to buy some nice tea or just sit down and enjoy a nice cup in one of the tea houses. Having visited the place in winter, when it was mostly rainy and quite misty, it's not exactly the best place for an outing as you'll have to expect a nice, cold, rain shower but it was still a beautiful place to see despite the bad weather.
  • Good place but it's very lonely when you're visiting after 6pm. There people go to sleep or what but shops will be closed you'll feel like nobody is there in the streets. But yes in the afternoon it is crowded and you can enjoy the mountain beauty. In the night if you want to spend your time with a girlfriend or any girl then it is a good place for you. Must visit places.
