Create an itinerary including YehLiu Geopark
Stretching some 1,700 m (5,577 ft) into the ocean, YehLiu Geopark serves as a natural exhibition area for some of the strangest tent rock formations in the world. Dotted with hoodoo stones, the promontory offers fantastic views of the distinctive geological formations created in Miocene, which pushed the Dalian Mountains out of the sea. Marvel at the rocky Queen’s Head, the rock resembling a profile of Elizabeth II Queen of England, then check out Sea Candles, Fairy’s Shoe, or Ginger Rock. You can have fun concocting your own name for some of the shapes while walking through a forest of tall mushroom-shaped rocks. This bizarre Martian-like landscape can be reached by bus 90 minutes from West Taipei station. • This is my go-to happy place whenever I visit Taiwan. The heat did not stop me. Though it may just sound like rocks, there's so much to see here, even my third time back. The waters are so blue and the rock formations are really beautiful. This is truly nature at its finest. In the summer, I suggest coming as early as possible so it's not as hot, not to mention there's way less people. We arrived around 10am on a weekend and stayed for two hours. Bring an umbrella to shield from the sun as there's not much shade. The breeze from the waters was refreshing and made the scorching sun more bearable. Tickets are 120NT per person.
  • A beautiful family weekend spot. Good to walk around, relax and enjoy the wholesome beauty of nature. The special rock structure and the sea view are something worth visiting on a sunny day. Many sea food restaurant/stores with delicacies. Easier if you got your own transport. Just a 40 minutes drive from Taipei.
