Royal Palace Amsterdam was once a city hall and royal palace; today it's used by the Dutch monarch for hosting official events. Built during the Dutch Golden Age in 1665, the site features prominent paintings and sculptures created by distinguished artists of the era, as well as lavish Empire furniture from the early 19th century. Take an audio tour and hear about the history of the palace. Walk through the extravagant rooms and offices, filled with golden elements and brightly colored, highly realistic paintings. You'll encounter works by Flinck, Lievens, and Jordaens. Plan my day in Amsterdam using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

  • So this should be higher on the list. 75min audio guided tour. Very in-depth description involving the design/history of the palace. A valuable education on the Dutch culture and what makes them...

  • What an amazing palace. Really enjoyed walking around this beautiful building. The rooms inside of the palace are really worth taking the time to view this. Highly recommend doing this.

  • A must see site. Less crowded than expected (end of summer holidays). So much beautiful artwork. I particularly loved the great hall. Note, only a small portion of the palace is open to the public, but still plenty to see. The self guided tour recommended. Expect to take 2+ hrs to view properly.
  • Great way to spend an hour checking out and learning about the history of the palace, which still serves official functions once in a while. The best part of the self guided tour is the easy to use headset. It also has the side benefit of keeping everyone quiet as they listen to the interesting history behind the marbled palace.
