Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Place des Vosges and Ile Saint-Louis. Change things up with these side-trips from Paris: Chartres Cathedral (in Chartres), Palace of Versailles (in Versailles) and Fontainebleau (Chateau de Fontainebleau & Fontainebleau Forest (Foret de Fontainebleau)).
