Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Step out of the city life by going to Triglav National Park and Vintgar Gorge. Get some cultural insight at Cankarjevo Nabrežje and National Museum of Contemporary History. Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Bled (Bled Castle, Zipline, &more) and Old Town Centre of Radovljica (in Radovljica). Next up on the itinerary: take in the spiritual surroundings of Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, take in the views from Cobblers' Bridge, wander the streets of Ljubljana Old Town, and get a sense of history and politics at Town Hall.

Getting from Ljubljana to Ptuj by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a train. Expect a daytime high around 24°C in May, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Thu) early enough to drive to Piran.

Piran — 2 nights

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Fri): learn more about the world around you at Magical World of Shells Museum, make a trip to Tartini Square, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George's Church, then pause for some serene contemplation at Church of St. Francis of Assisi, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Strunjan Nature Reserve. On the next day, kick back and relax at Portorož Beach, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower, then Head underground at Škocjan Caves, and finally stroll through Svetilnik Beach.

Traveling by car from Ptuj to Piran takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a bus. May in Piran sees daily highs of 25°C and lows of 13°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Sat) so you can drive to Kobarid.

Kobarid — 2 nights

At the very heart of picturesque Soca Valley, Kobarid delivers some of the most stunning views of Slovenia's highest peaks, as well as a chance to enjoy some exciting alpine rivers.
