Dole — 10 nights

Dole is a commune in the Jura department in the Franche-Comté region in eastern France, of which it is a subprefecture.HistoryDole was the capital of Franche-Comté until Louis XIV conquered the region; he shifted the parlement from Dole to Besançon. Kids will appreciate attractions like Cascades du Hérisson and Reculee de Baume-les-Messieurs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Dole: Pic de l'Aigle (in La Chaux-du-Dombief), Baume-les-Messieurs (Belvedere de Granges-sur-Baume, Abbaye Imperiale de Baume-les-Messieurs, &more) and Lac de Chalain (in Fontenu). There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Collegiale Notre-Dame de Dole, engage your brain at Maison natale de Louis Pasteur, examine the collection at La Maison de La Vache qui rit, and don't miss a visit to La Grande Saline - Musée du Sel.
