Dole — 10 nights

Dole is a commune in the Jura department in the Franche-Comté region in eastern France, of which it is a subprefecture.HistoryDole was the capital of Franche-Comté until Louis XIV conquered the region; he shifted the parlement from Dole to Besançon. Kids will appreciate attractions like Cascades du Hérisson and Maison natale de Louis Pasteur. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Dole: Pic de l'Aigle (in La Chaux-du-Dombief), Baume-les-Messieurs (Belvedere de Granges-sur-Baume, Reculee de Baume-les-Messieurs, &more) and Lac de Chalain (in Fontenu). There's much more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Collegiale Notre-Dame de Dole, take in the dramatic scenery at La Cascade des Tufs, explore the activities along Lac de Vouglans, and make a trip to Vieux Dole.
