Long known as one of the most important urban centers of medieval Germany, Magdeburg today boasts both an impressive historical core and a booming tech industry.
Venture out of the city with trips to Wittenberg (Stadtkirche, Tierpark, &more), Marienberg (in Brandenburg City) and Kurfurstendenkmal (in Rathenow). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Sonnenobservatorium von Goseck, walk around Stadtpark Rotehorn, admire the natural beauty at Gruson Gewaechshaeuser, and don't miss a visit to Marktplatz.
