Ajaccio — 3 nights

With a dreamy location on the west coast of the French Mediterranean island of Corsica, Ajaccio is a mecca of seaside summer tourism.
Visit Plage Cupabia and Plage de Ruppione for some beach relaxation. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sentier des Douaniers and Iles Sanguinaires. Step out of Ajaccio with an excursion to Le Jardin des Abeilles in Ocana--about 44 minutes away. There's still lots to do: head outdoors with Grand Site Parata Sanguinaires, scramble along the landscape with Canyoning Corse, and see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Ajaccio is an approximately 7-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and ferry; or do a combination of car and ferry. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Amsterdam in June: high temperatures in Ajaccio hover around 30°C and lows are around 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) to allow time to drive to Piana.

Bonifacio — 6 nights

At the southernmost tip of the island of Corsica, Bonifacio is a city with chalk-white limestone outcrops sculpted into unusual shapes by the ocean.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Cimetiere Marin de Bonifacio and Menhirs Paddaghhu. Bastion de L'Etendard and Eglise Sainte Marie Majeure are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Bonifacio side-trips: U Porcu Ranger (in Figari) and Plage de Tizzano (de l'Avena) (in Tizzano). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Phare de Pertusato, see Le Club de Voile de Bonifacio, zoom along the surf with a waterskiing or jet-skiing adventure, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Plage du Grand Sperone.

You can drive from Ile Rousse to Bonifacio in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or do a combination of train and car. Traveling from Ile Rousse in June, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit cooler in Bonifacio, with lows of 17°C. On the 20th (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
