Although its luxury shops, nightlife, casinos, and high-end restaurants give Cannes a feeling of exclusivity, this classic French Riviera city has alternatives to suit every budget.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sat): get a taste of the local shopping with La Croisette, then don't miss a visit to Promenade des Anglais, and then make a trip to Place Massena. Here are some ideas for day two: take in nature's colorful creations at Le Jardin Exotique d'Eze, then wander the streets of Vieille Ville, and then get great views at Colline du Chateau overlook.

Marseille to Cannes is an approximately 2-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. When traveling from Marseille in July, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Cannes: temperatures range from 33°C by day to 21°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sun) so you can go by car to Toulon.

Toulon is a city in southern France and a large military harbour on the Mediterranean coast, with a major French naval base. Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): stroll through Plage de Pampelonne. Here are some ideas for day two: pause for some serene contemplation at Notre Dame du Mai and then stroll through Plage de l'Estagnol.

The 2013 European "Capital of Culture," Marseille is the largest port city on the breezy Mediterranean coast and the second largest city in France.
You'll get in some beach time at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer Beach and Plage de la Pointe Rouge. Explore Marseille's surroundings by going to Domaines Bunan (in La Cadiere d'Azur), Plage du Verdon (in Martigues) and Avignon (Pont d'Avignon & Palais des Papes). Getting from Toulon to Marseille by car takes about an hour. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. In July, daytime highs in Marseille are 36°C, while nighttime lows are 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
