Shari-cho — 4 nights

Tourism in Shari-cho, a small town situated on Hokkaido's eastern tip, flourishes mainly because of its immediate proximity to the Shiretoko World Heritage Site.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Shiretoko Goko Lake and Kaminoko Pond. Get in touch with nature at Lake Mashu and Shiretoko Peninsula. Spend the 23rd (Fri) exploring nature at Shiretoko National Park. There's more to do: admire the sheer force of Kamuiwakka Hot Waterfall and cruise along Road to Heaven.

You can fly from Yakushima-cho to Kyoto in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and train; or do a combination of ferry, bus, and train. Traveling from Yakushima-cho in October, Kyoto is a bit cooler at night with lows of 18°C. On the 21st (Fri), you'll travel back home.
