Nissa la Bella (Nice the Beautiful)

Well-known for the beautiful views of its famous Promenade des Anglais waterfront, Nice is an ethnically-diverse coastal port city on the French Riviera and the fifth most populated city in France.
Explore Nice's surroundings by going to Cannes (Les Murs Peints, Île Sainte-Marguerite, &more), La Pointe de l'Aiguille (in Theoule sur Mer) and Massif de l'Esterel (in Agay). Spend the 22nd (Thu) exploring the fascinating underwater world at Marineland. There's still lots to do: get great views at Colline du Chateau overlook, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedrale Saint-Nicolas a Nice, make a trip to Place Massena, and take in nature's colorful creations at Le Jardin Exotique d'Eze.

Perhaps best known for its locally produced mustard, Dijon also makes a wonderfully flavorful crème de cassis, or blackcurrant liqueur, and boasts excellent examples of regional architecture with polychrome roofs made of tiles in terracotta, green, yellow, and black placed in geometric patterns.
Venture out of the city with trips to Henri de Villamont (in Savigny-les-Beaune), Chablis (Domaine Celine & Frederic Gueguen & Chablis Vititours) and Chateau Ancy-le Franc (in Ancy-le-Franc). There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at Hôtel-Dieu Museum Musée de l'Hôtel-Dieu, trek along Owl's Trail, explore the world behind art at Musee des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, and indulge your senses at some of the top wineries in the area.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Nice to Dijon in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Traveling from Nice in June, Dijon is slightly colder at night with lows of 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 5th (Wed) to allow time for travel back home.
