Caen — 3 nights

City of a Hundred Steeples

Caen is known for its historical buildings built during the reign of William the Conqueror, who was buried there, and for the Battle for Caen--heavy fighting that took place in and around Caen during the Battle of Normandy in 1944, destroying much of the city.
Venture out of the city with trips to Mont Saint-Michel (in Mont-Saint-Michel), Cathedrale Notre-Dame (in Bayeux) and Normandy American Cemetery (in Colleville-sur-Mer). And it doesn't end there: explore the world behind art at Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux, take an in-depth tour of Memorial de Caen, take in nature's colorful creations at La Colline aux Oiseaux, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Abbaye aux Dames.

For reviews, photos, and tourist information, you can read our Caen online trip maker.

If you are flying in from Ukraine, the closest major aiports are Dinard-Pleurtuit-Saint-Malo Airport, Rennes-Saint-Jacques Airport and Deauville-Saint-Gatien Airport. In April, plan for daily highs up to 17°C, and evening lows to 6°C.
