Camuy — 3 nights

Camuy is a municipality of Puerto Rico, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Lares; east of Quebradillas; and west of Hatillo. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Camuy: Utuado (Cacique Eco Adventure Tanama & Horseback Riding Tours) and Arecibo (Catedral San Felipe Apostol & Cueva del Indio). The adventure continues: explore the fascinating underground world of Parque Nacional de las Cavernas del Rio Camuy.

North Bay, Canada to Camuy is an approximately 18-hour combination of flight and car. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Atlantic Standard Time is 1 hour. Plan for much hotter temperatures traveling from North Bay in January, with highs in Camuy at 33°C and lows at 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Rincon.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
Change things up with these side-trips from Rincon: Jobos Beach (in Isabela), Cabo Rojo (Faro Los Morrillos & Playa Sucia) and Playa Crashboat (in Aguadilla). There's lots more to do: visit San German, wander the streets of Porta del Sol - West, kick back and relax at Domes Beach, and don't miss a visit to Plaza Almirante Cristobal Colon.

Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Get out of town with these interesting Ponce side-trips: Cana Gorda Beach (in Playa de Guanica) and Bosque Estatal de Guanica (in Guanica). And it doesn't end there: take an in-depth tour of Museo de Arte de Ponce, take a leisurely stroll along La Guancha de Ponce, examine the collection at Parque de Bombas, and tee off at Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
