Dijon — 4 nights

Gateway to Burgundy

Perhaps best known for its locally produced mustard, Dijon also makes a wonderfully flavorful crème de cassis, or blackcurrant liqueur, and boasts excellent examples of regional architecture with polychrome roofs made of tiles in terracotta, green, yellow, and black placed in geometric patterns.
You've now added Wine and Voyages to your itinerary. Escape the urban bustle at Owl's Trail and Grottes d'Osselle. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to La Cascade des Tufs and Rue Des Forges. Explore Dijon's surroundings by going to Sentier Karstique (in Besain), Grottes des Moidons (in Molain) and Domaine Bader-Mimeur (in Chassagne-Montrachet). There's much more to do: cruise along Route des Grands Crus, contemplate the long history of Cathedrale Saint-Benigne de Dijon, don't miss a visit to Tour Philippe le Bon, and examine the collection at Musee Archeologique.
