More than 20 million people call Cairo their home and, as soon as you set foot in the sprawling metropolis, it's evident they make it crowded and chaotic, but also exuberant and charming.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Sun): see the interesting displays at The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, browse the exhibits of Oum El Dounia Gallery, appreciate the history behind Great Sphinx, then stop by Nomad Gallery - Zamalek Main Branch, and finally explore the activities along Nile River. On the 26th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of Mosque of Sultan Al-Ashraf Barsbay, then explore the ancient world of Pyramids of Giza, and then stroll around Al-Azhar Park.

Luxor — 2 nights

A monumental number of archaeological relics from ancient Egypt remain evident in Luxor, the former capital of the New Kingdom.
Start off your visit on the 27th (Tue): get your bearings at ACE - Animal Care in Egypt, then steep yourself in history at Temple of Karnak, and then pause for some photo ops at Luxor Temple. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 28th (Wed): pause for some photo ops at Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Valley of the Kings, and then don't miss a visit to Deir el-Shelwit Temple.

You can fly from Cairo to Luxor in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a train. Traveling from Cairo in October, expect nights in Luxor to be about the same, around 23°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 41°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Wed) so you can catch the flight to Dahab.

Fly from Luxor to Dahab in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and ferry; or do a combination of car and ferry. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Luxor in October: highs in Dahab hover around 38°C, while lows dip to 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Thu) to allow enough time to fly back home.
