The 2013 European "Capital of Culture," Marseille is the largest port city on the breezy Mediterranean coast and the second largest city in France.Explore Marseille's surroundings by going to Paroisse Cathédrale Saint Sauveur Aix-en-Provence (in Aix-en-Provence), Avignon (Pont d'Avignon & Palais des Papes) and Carrieres des Lumieres (in Les Baux de Provence). Spend the 4th (Tue) exploring nature at Parc National des Calanques. There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde, take a stroll through La Croisette, visit The Panier, and take a leisurely stroll along Le Vieux Port.
