Luang Prabang — 3 nights

Designated a World Heritage Site in 1995, Luang Prabang sits at the meeting point of two rivers and offers numerous opportunities for sailing, climbing, and exploring scenic caves and waterfalls.
Change things up with a short trip to 100 Waterfalls in Nong Khiaw (about 52 minutes away). There's still lots to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Kuang Si Waterfall, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Phousi, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham, and look for all kinds of wild species at MandaLao Elephant Conservation.

Vientiane — 2 nights

The riverside capital of Laos, Vientiane still has a relatively small urban area and a laid-back, relaxed feel to it.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Tue): contemplate the long history of Great Sacred Stupa (Pha That Luang), enjoy breathtaking views from Patuxai, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Ho Phra Keo, take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Si Saket, then pause for some photo ops at Black Stupa (That Dam), and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Wat Si Muang.
