A popular holiday destination with world-class surfing, Biarritz has interesting coastal rock formations and stellar waves that make this luxurious seaside town popular with tourists and surfers alike.
Change things up with these side-trips from Biarritz: River Rafting & Tubing (in Bidarray) and Digue de Socoa (in Ciboure). There's lots more to do: get great views at Rocher de la Vierge, take a tour of Hermione - La Fayette, pause for some photo ops at Cathedrale Sainte-Marie de Bayonne, and stop by L'Atelier du Piment.

On the 25th (Tue), get engrossed in the history at Chateau Fort of Lourdes, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Grotte de Massabielle, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Sanctuaires Notre-Dame de Lourdes, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilique de l’Immaculee Conception.

Medieval Heart of France

Best known as a fortified town, Carcassonne is a walled city that provided the inspiration for the castle in Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" and the location for many scenes in Kevin Costner's movie "Robin Hood." For a daily dose of excitement, medieval jousting tournaments are held twice per day between the two walls--while this may sound like a typical touristy show, it's actually an entertaining display of combative competition and horsemanship.
On the 26th (Wed), step into the grandiose world of Chateau Comtal, then pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Saint-Nazaire, then contemplate the long history of Cathar Castles, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Saint-Vincent de Carcassonne. On your second day here, take a stroll through Cité de Carcassonne, then snap pictures at Le Pont Vieux (The Old Bridge), then contemplate the waterfront views at Lac de Cavayere, and finally do a tasting at O'Vineyards.
