The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.Get out of town with these interesting Lagos side-trips: Olhos de Agua (Praia da Falesia & Praia dos Olhos de Água), Albufeira (Speed Boats Tours, Centro Historico de Albufeira, &more) and Sagres (Fortaleza de Sagres & Cape Saint Vincent). Plan for a day of cool, family-friendly fun on the 17th (Wed) at Slide & Splash - Parque Aquatico - Water Slide Park. The adventure continues: take in the dramatic natural features at Ponta da Piedade, get in on the family fun at Zoomarine Algarve, take in the waterfront activity at Praia do Porto de Mos, and kick back and relax at Praia Dona Ana.

Detroit, USA to Lagos is an approximately 15-hour flight. Traveling from Detroit to Lagos, you'll lose 5 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Detroit in November, expect Lagos to be a bit warmer, temps between 68°F and 54°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Wed) so you can drive to Faro.

The most well-known city in the Algarve, Faro boasts a cliffside location with popular beaches and a thriving cultural scene.Explore Faro's surroundings by going to Calcadao de Quarteira (in Quarteira), Tavira (Castelo de Tavira, Praia do Barril, &more) and Vilamoura (Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course, Dom Pedro Old Course - Golf Club, &more). Getting from Lagos to Faro by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 63°F, and evening lows to 50°F. On the 30th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
