The medieval town of Bruges centers around a canal, and the architecture of its historical district has made it a World Heritage Site.
Go for a jaunt from Bruges to Ieper (Ypres) to see Menin Gate Memorial about 52 minutes away. There's still lots to do: make a trip to The Markt, take in panoramic vistas at Belfry of Bruges, admire the masterpieces at Groeningemuseum, and explore the activities along Minnewater Lake.
