Dijon — 8 nights

Gateway to Burgundy

Perhaps best known for its locally produced mustard, Dijon also makes a wonderfully flavorful crème de cassis, or blackcurrant liqueur, and boasts excellent examples of regional architecture with polychrome roofs made of tiles in terracotta, green, yellow, and black placed in geometric patterns.
Change things up with these side-trips from Dijon: Lyon (La Place des Jacobins, Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon, &more), Besancon (Temple et galerie du Saint-Esprit, Citadel of Besançon, &more) and Bourg-en-Bresse (Temple Protestant & Monastere Royal de Brou). Dedicate the 17th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: don't miss a visit to Owl's Trail, pause for some serene contemplation at Paroisse Notre-Dame De Dijon, learn about winemaking at Chablis Vititours, and contemplate the long history of Cathedrale Saint-Benigne de Dijon.
