Visit Jumeirah Mosque, a place of worship and cultural center that places particular emphasis on introducing Islam to non-Muslim guests. Built in the late 1970s, the mosque represents a traditional Fatimid style of architecture, with tall twin minarets on either side of a large central dome. Join a guided tour to see the mosque's attractive interior and learn about the traditions and history of Islam in the country and across the region. As opposed to many places of worship in the city, photography is allowed here, so make sure to bring your camera. Serene place. Midway between Palm Jumeirah and Gold Souk. Worth the visit. Please make advance booking as the tour is guided one and starts only twice a day. The backside of the mosque hides the sun and is a bit cool than the front. Just a pro-tip. You can sit there for a bit and get respite from the heat. Calm place and good architecture. Do visit if in Dubai. Across the road are good food joints. In case you want to catch a bite after the mosque.
Jumeirah Mosque is a mosque that was built in the 70s by Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum one of the UAE's founding fathers. This mosque is open for the 5 prayers of the day for Muslims to attend the group prayer but as all mosques of Dubai the prayer hall is closed outside prayer times (&open for mosque visits, see below for more info.) The ladies section is clean and tidy ! ---- This mosque's uniqueness is in the guided tour titled Mosque Visit which started over 20 years ago by the Centre for Cultural Understanding. Visitors get to explore the mosque architecture. And they get a chance to learn about the religion of Islam. What's special about this visit is also the open mindedness of the guides who will listen to ALL questions about the religion without passing any judgement! Questions cover not only the religion of Islam but also the Emirati culture. One question I heard from the guests was "why Muslim women wear black ?". When I first visited the mosque I was an intern, and as a Muslim Emirati woman, it was an I opening experience and it encouraged me to be more open and welling to share my culture with the world. Oh & the experience doesn't need any reservation! Everyday except Friday. Twice a day at 10 am and 2 pm. The rate is 35 AED (keep in mind that this is for a non-profit organization). People of determination are free of charge. It's good to keep in mind that the mosque visits are usually open even during public holidays. ---- For me I scored it 4/5 because I think it can be better. Maybe more clarity for tourists and worshipers with signs outside the mosque as I think many are confused in the reviews section. And more light indoors would be nice.
