A genuine folly loaded with history, Broadway Tower was designed by architect James Wyatt in 1794. Follies were structures usually built for decorative rather than practical purposes, and this tower was no exception. Wyatt designed it for Lady Coventry, who wondered if a light on the second highest hill in the area, where beacons were customarily lit on special occasions, could be seen from her house in Worcester. The lady’s house was approximately 35 km (22 mi) away and, as it turned out, the beacon could be seen clearly. Today, the tower is an ideal lookout spot and the center of a country park with various exhibits open to the public. Visit the site on a sunny day, and don’t forget to bring your camera. It was open and allowed dogs - two things that are very unusual for the Cotswolds in our experience - the walk was lovely and the views wonderful. Pricey, mind you.

Pleasant energetic walk to the top where we had picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Very nice.

Great day out, we took our dogs and there were plenty of other dog walkers and young families. Plenty of parking, toilets, cafe. We took a picnic and enjoyed sitting outside. Paths were well signed and there were some that were suitable for pushchairs, mobility scooters and wheelchairs. Other routes were more uphill, but great for a bracing walk. I would recommend (£4 ticket online included parking and grounds - but not entry to the Tower). We will definitely be back!

Got to say we spent a good 3hours exploring the tower and having lunch at this site,it appears the great William Morris has some connections with the tower which seems to have been built as a folly, but having said that the most important thing about this place is the jaw dropping view which is absolutely sensational,it is said on a clear day several counties can be viewed from the top of the tower. The only thing I think they could improve on is the entrance, which you could easily miss. Visited again recently but the tower was closed which was disappointing but I think they were doing some work on it. Hope come back soon as it's always worth a visit.
