Get a good sense of President Johnson's character, intellect, and impact on the country at LBJ Presidential Library. The library houses millions of pages of historical documents. As you enter the lobby, the first thing you see is the President's limousine. Start from the top floor by walking through a replica of the Oval Office arranged as it was during Johnson's presidency. See a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt, LBJ's three television sets, and his many books. Look for the desk on which the president signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. You can also see significant artifacts from the days surrounding the assassination of JFK. Look for a telephone in a corner to listen to conversations concerning this historic event. We spent 3 hours here. Although it's a bit dated as not as modern as others we've seen, we still learned and re-learned a whole lot about LBJ about which we either didn't know or had forgotten.

I didn’t know much about the presidential libraries being European until my American boss very sensibly suggested I go and have a look. Wow are the words I’d use this is a master stroke to present...

Remarkable. For those who came of age in the 60's, this will stir powerful memories and, depending on your perspective, nudge you to reevaluate Johnson's legacy. His inability to extricate himself or us from our failed foreign policy in Vietnam turned me and many adamantly against him, but his skill and perseverance in pushing civil rights legislation through Congress is inspiring -- and all the more historically profound the further we retreat from the gains he helped achieve. All of this is amply documented -- in great photographs, audio tapes, and videos -- and the cumulative effect is powerful.

The staff couldn't have been nicer if they tried! The Lady Bird section was delightful! It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend visiting the library as soon as you can!
