Featuring large waves and surfing competitions, Waimea Bay hugs a powdery beach bordered by tropical greenery. Depending on the weather, the ocean can be completely calm, or you can encounter 15 m (50 ft) waves. Visit the beach to lounge in the sun or have a picnic, or walk through the nearby gardens and look at the waterfalls. When the water is calm, you can also swim and snorkel. Beware of the local tradition of rock-jumping--although many visitors do it, the local authorities strictly advise against it. Parking space at the site is very limited. Such a fun beach day! Best way to see Ohau is simply beach jumping. Every stop you make is a completely different vibe. Don't go to Waimea and not jump. Wonderful experience, beautiful water....surrounded by beauty. Go early to get best parking or be prepared to circle a bit.

This was our favorite beach while we were there in June. Nice and calm. Crystal clear. Swim, snorkel, jump off the rock. We went here twice and on our last full day tried another beach and wish we would've just went back here. It's soooo nice. Parking is tough though and traffic gets bad on the weekend. If you come in the afternoon there's not going to be any parking at the main entrance but you can pay for parking at the entrance to Waimea Falls across the street and down or go a little further and sometimes you can pay to park at the church. Loved this spot!
