Founded in 1720, Mission San Jose is the largest of the missions in Texas and offers visitors a glimpse into the area's Spanish community life more than 250 years ago. This Catholic mission was rebuilt in limestone in 1768 and is dubbed Queen of the Missions because of its relative size compared to fellow sites within the UNESCO-designated San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. This particular mission underwent restoration in the 1930s and is most well-known for its detailed rose window. • We really enjoyed touring the mission trail on our bikes. It is better suited to biking than the River Walk downtown area or the museum trail north of the River Walk. The paths are wider and there...

  • The video in the main visitor center is well worth the wait. It's more impactful to explore the Mission San Jose after learning about its turbulent history. Also the video has closed captions!

  • Excellent experience. Love history and places to visit. Free to visit all three Missions, few minutes apart. Incredible to see the conservation of church and fort. Nice to walk and enjoy history. All employees we're so nice and helpful. Love Texas and all residents. So happy to visit new places...a lot of pictures good memories and very nice people. Love Texas!
  • One of the prettiest missions we have been to. Kids loved doing the ranger badge activity. The grounds are well kept and structures are beautiful to look out. Definitely glad we came here. Want to come back when kids are older and do the trail bike rides.
