Explore the hidden cave chains of Trang An Grottoes, a World Heritage Site preserving a huge natural rock garden in a vast lake near Nihn Binh. You'll enter the caves by boat, passing through cracks in the limestone hillocks, which are covered with lush green vegetation. During a popular two- to three-hour boat ride, you'll see dramatic karst scenery and a nine-cave network interconnected by flooded inland waterways, with many suspended stalagmites. This pristine area boasts high biological diversity, and you can even paddle your own boat around the caves. Tours usually include a visit to Ha Pagoda on Ngo Dong River, Bai Dinh Temple, and the old capital of Hoa Lu. By using our Ninh Binh journey planner, you can arrange your visit to Trang An Grottoes and other attractions in Ninh Binh.

During the four weeks in Vietnam, this tour was my absolute favorite! The landscape is magical and breathtaking. You can choose between three tours that differ between more temples or more caves or more landscape. My pictures were taken on tour three. On all tours you will travel through this wonderful landscape in a small rowing boat with four people. Because the boats don't have motors, this place is very quiet and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and small caves. The price is around $10 (per seat) but it's worth it. For me a must visit in Vietnam! Highly recommended.

One of the best experiences ever! It wasn’t too busy and we got on the boat straight away. This place is a world heritage site and they really look after the site. From the area where you buy the tickets to where you get on the boat it’s all very nice. They have hundreds of boats so if it’s busy I’m sure you don’t wait too long. You can pick one of 3 routes. We went for route 1 (the most popular) and we were out for about 3 hours! You visit a few temples/ pagodas and go through loads of caves! It’s so peaceful and beautiful. Ha Long bay in land!
